“Το Travel & Leisure, είναι από τα μεγαλύτερα ταξιδιωτικά έντυπα του κόσμου. Η πιο γνωστή του πρωτοβουλία είναι η διενέργεια ενός διαδικτυακού δημοψηφίσματος, όπου με ένα στεγανό και πολυκριτηριακό σύστημα, οι αναγνώστες του ψηφίζουν τα καλύτερα στον χώρο του τουρισμού και των ταξιδιών. Τα World’s Best Awards, όπως λέγονται απονέμονται φέτος από 165.000 αναγνώστες οι οποίοι συμμετείχαν από 24 Οκτωβρίου 2022 έως τις 27 Φεβρουαρίου 2023, στην ψηφοφορία με ειδικό κλειδάριθμο, που απέκλειε τους έχοντες οποιαδήποτε επαγγελματική σχέση με τον τουριστικό κλάδο. Το αδιάβλητο εξασφαλίζει και μια εξειδικευμένη εταιρεία, η Proof Insights που χρησιμοποιεί αυτοματοποιημένες και μη αυτόματες στρατηγικές για την πρόληψη και τη διόρθωση πιθανής απάτης.
Το σύστημα περιλαμβάνει τα εξής κριτήρια: Φυσικά αξιοθέατα/παραλίες, δραστηριότητες/αξιοθέατα, εστιατόρια/φαγητό, άνθρωποι/φιλικότητα, αξία/κόστος.
Στη φετινή ψηφοφορία η Σαντορίνη, που σημειωτέον έχει μπει στο λεγόμενο Hall of Fame που σημαίνει ότι ο προορισμός έχει ψηφιστεί σε μια συγκεκριμένη λίστα με τα καλύτερα βραβεία στον κόσμο τα τελευταία 10 χρόνια (συνεχόμενα).
Στην κατηγορία των καλύτερων νησιών του κόσμου, η Σαντορίνη, κατέλαβε φέτος την 25η θέση στον κόσμο και την 8η θέση στην Ευρώπη. «Συχνά διαφημίζεται ως ένα από τα πιο ρομαντικά νησιά στον κόσμο , η Σαντορίνη είναι γνωστή για τα λευκοβαμένα κτίριά της με τους μπλε τρούλους. Με θέα στο Αιγαίο Πέλαγος, το ηφαιστειογενές νησί φιλοξενεί πολλά γραφικά χωριά όπως η Οία , τα Φηρά και το Ημεροβίγλι. Αναγνώστης του T+L παρατήρησαν ότι το νησί έχει «όμορφα ηλιοβασιλέματα» και «υπέροχη θέα», καθώς και εξαιρετικό φαγητό και φιλικούς ντόπιους.
